I remember when people would argue with me that VA would never end up like MD.

Sorry to those of you there but lol at all the tards that told me I was wrong.

The writing was on the wall in 2006 - it just took a little while for it to trickle all the way down.

1/10 Virginia residents is foreign born and Fairfax county is basically East Asia meets Central America with an affluent white shitlib government class. No one should be surprised.

The upside for them is the VA state courts are far more conservative than Maryland state courts. So it's possible some of those anti-2A laws will be struck down.

Virginia has gone all blue now and they will suffer.

Still have to go through the 4th circuit.

I am hearing the fat lady starting to warm up

Freedom died a little more last night :(

I could see a future where states will start to split. there will be 75- states if this keeps up. Counties will splits from the main state. They are flirting with this idea in NY and CA. I could see it happening elsewhere

Seems amazing to me that people will blame everything and everybody except for Trump.

This has been coming for better than 20 years. The explosion of the urban centers, formerly rural areas becoming heavily built up, transplants from the DC area running from the consequences of their decision making to new territory to ruin.

Hardly something that happened in the last 3.5 years.

Well it seems to me that VA has gone to Hell and back with the DemoRATS taking over the whole government. All I can say is their goes your 2A rights you might as well kiss them goodby..
We've successfully fended off quite a bit in MD, and VA is in a MUCH better position than us in their Senate. There's still hope, especially if one or two of the Democrats in there believes their political future is in doubt by voting on more radical gun control measures.

I agree that NOVA's demographics are overwhelming the rest of the state, but Trump's woes clearly accelerated the shift. You don't lose ten seats in the lower chamber in one election because NOVA grew a bit.

The 2017 house was decided by 1 vote. The writing was on the wall two yrs ago. Like I noted above, I think some republican, voters and legislators got lazy and were resting on their laurels. Things ebb and flow, thats the way it goes. Hopefully this is a wakeup call.

BS. VA is at a demographic tipping point. The levee has broken and the amount of "outside" money being invested in VA elections (even local elections) is astronomical.

Trump had more VA votes in 2016 (and lost) than GWB had in 2004 when he won the state. Since then, the Democrat-controlled state has made it easier for illegals and felons to vote.

They called Bush "Hitler" too. You know, the guy who watches baseball with famous lesbians and wanted amnesty. Don't buy in to the left's propaganda.

This is what you get when you don't vote because the Republican candidate is not "just right for me", or vote for a third party loser.

I have no respect for those in VA that sat by and let this happen. The Governor has a yearbook picture with black face and the Lt. Governor a rapist, and this is the best you can do?

Virginia, I have no sympathy for you.

Yes, we took a body blow last night. The creeping blue crud has a lot of support. Northam’s anti 2A moves will make it through, unfortunately. As mentioned above the real threat from the crud and VA will be a result of taxes and sanctuary policies. I am still glad we left MD and will be ok here for quite some time. The hope and plan is to get Northam out and a Republican (a real Repub. not a Rino) in. Down but not out in VA, fred55

Because to blame Trump is nonsense. The state has been moving blue for DECADES, and there was just a major shift in redistricting which cased a well understood quantum jump in assembly seats.

The statewide offices eg Gov, lt. Governor, AG, both US Senators were all Democrats before Trump. Do you blame that on him as well?

And in fact gun control issues had a big impact on this election with Bloomberg putting a lot of money into it.

If anything Trump prevented it from being worse.
You DO lose ten seats easily in a legislative body when long time control of districting is suddenly lost in a major supreme court case.

There were near a dozen seats immediately converted to Democrat majority by a court ruling defining those heretofore GOP districts as illegal gerrymander

This is all you need to know about what they are going to do with their new found power. This was taken at the VA Dem victory party.

google is your friend, I am not.

What if people actually did vote, but voted for Democrats?

GOP also lost the .gov mansion in KY, and you really have to try hard to lose in KY.

I think its more likely that since Cuccinelli, VA GOP has been too strident. It turns people off.

There are A LOT of hispanic people in Virginia. I am amazed at how many I see on a regular basis when I go down there periodically.

Exactly. More bloomberg money per capita than any other state.
I have pals in VDCL and the group was a mess this cycle. Lots of members refusing to support moderate Republicans in purple districts because they were not conservative enough. Lot sof "shall not be infringed" yammring and very little money or volunteering in the tight races That was self destructive. The Dems will now control the assembly for the new post census redistricting and bring their advantage up even higher and make it permanent.
