You can still buy Everclear in Maryland. They did a FU to the government on a most epic level... Maryland banned 190 proof Everclear, so they started selling 189 proof Everclear. (This is real and not a joke)

Several of the retailers I've dealt with have just voided it from inventory. They saw the cat-and-mouse pissing contest that was evolving, and decided it was more trouble than it's worth.

Related - the clerk will give you the stink-eye if you tell him you need Everclear for a Cub Scout activity. (91% isopropyl works fine, and comes with zero scrutiny at the register)

I’m an HVAC contractor. We sell air cleaners and UV lights that capture and kill virus size particles that are airborne and travel through your HVAC system. Some of my competitors are advertising these products for sale. I have high confidence in the product and it’s ability to remove the virus however I have low confidence that a significant amount of virus laden air will actually reach the HVAC system before depositing itself all over your home or office. It helps some yes and perhaps the biggest benefit is a (false) sense of well-being the homeowner gets. (Similar to me owning gallons of hand sanitizer)

What say you the general public? Does it seem a little slimy when you hear those ads on the radio?

Yesterday I stopped by two places I frequent thinking a spread would soon prohibit me from doing so. First Dunkin Donuts, holes for my niece in the am, I asked the girl if anyone seemed concerned about the virus, she showed me the large bottle of hand sanitizer that had been on the counter for a week and it was barely used!!

Then I walked into Chic-fil-a for for a burger, while waiting I watched a maybe 4 yr old girl walking around barefoot, play room, to the tables etc. her dad came over and picked her up under her shoulders and walked to the condiment counter and was talking to a managerial person, he stood the girl on the counter and she took a few steps past the salt, pepper etc. Manager said nothing and walked past me asking if I was waiting for my order. I said the guy just had his barefoot girl walking on the condiments where people prepare their food, she said I'll wipe it down. She went to the counter, grabbed a wet rag from underneath, wiped it over quickly and put the rag right back. Now I wonder how many tables were then wiped down with that same rag .... the public is not prepared!!

I had a conscience battle of trying not to video this (camera was in hand) as it may have gone bad, having 11 in my pocket I made the best choice for myself and walked away. A video like that on Facetwitgram would have went viral! The public at large is our worst enemy.

Everything you do to help fight against getting the flu or corona helps. I've even started shopping at smaller stores. My thinking is less people around. Its near impossible to keep away from everything that may have the germs. Your clothes that you wore in the store, the products you brought home may have the germ on them, even the money in your wallet. I do what I can but think sometimes you can't cover everything. I do believe the best you can do is just stay home. A lot easier if retired. :innocent0

Mask rationing in Korea, now. We get 2 a week, fixed prices at $1.25 each. We have to provide the equivalent of our SSN, and proof of national healthcare, and have to go one day a week. The day we go is based on our birthday.

The same as the ones at the grocery store that use the carts for everything but groceries. Pile your dirty kids with their dirty shoes into the cart then I’m expected to put my food in it when you leave?

Or the ones at the restaurant that puts their baby carrier on the table top instead of on the floor. People.....I got to eat at that table!!!

It's impressive how organized they are (with this, the testing, the treatment, etc).

I work with UV daily for water disinfection. For air ducts, I would think their main purpose would be to prevend black mold from entering the ductwork where it could really fester.
Understand that UV only kills what passes by it. Something in the supply ducts/downstream will not be effected by UV.

I had four of those installed in my house six months ago. Why are my countertops and horizontal surfaces always so dusty now?

I'm suddenly feeling not so crazy for all the hotel soap bars and shampoo bottles I've collected over the years.

FWIW- Denatured alcohol (Lowes, HD, etc) and Iso Heet- yellow (auto parts stores) are also ethanol, but not food grade and cost a hell of a lot less.

    good to know, thanks

There are presumably countless studies done that show that healthcare professionals, on the whole, are batting somewhere between .400-.750 on this point. It's understandable, because of course we're all human, but nauseating from the point of "my loved one has the latest version of AIDS because Dumbass, MD (RN, LPN, MSN, NP, ETC, WTFBBQ) couldn't be bothered to wash and/or sanitize their hands before coming into their room."

that's not how aids transmission works.

    Preparing.....

Haven’t we heard enough about this? Doesn’t it seem to be blown out of proportion? After all, it’s said that it’s not as serious as the flu. Don’t you think enough is enough?
