My only one (for now). Taurus PT1911. Only thing I didn’t like were the grips, so I changed them. It has been flawless.

Have to say the original. Was my dad’s when he was in the Navy. Shot it last weekend in a C&R 2 gun match along with my M1A. It was awesome.

A late Frend of mine had an Ithaca, that had been Chrome plated after WW2. He inherited it from his grandfather. He was so proud of it; I couldn't tell him that the chrome job killed most of it's value.

Did he have it chromed, or his grandfather?

If granddad did it, it probably wasn't considered as valuable at the time, and the chrome is now part of the family history of the thing, so all good.

If he did it after he got it from granddad... :sad20:

Just a cheap 1911. Nothing special about it, except who I bought it from. Lou45.

Well, my granddad gave me this one he had in WW2....I think it was made by some sewing machine company. I dunno. I really wanted a rail for a tac-light but no gunsmith would weld one on. I tried three or four and they all said they wouldnt do it.

I tried to put a rail on myself with a kit I found online but I ended up drilling the holes wrong and couldn't get the rail on. Ended up trading it for a $100 home Depot gift card at a gun buyback because the part you hold was all boogered up and looked bad

Good lord! I almost died until I read the last sentence

I believe that that his grandfather had it chromed when he got back from the war. I have no idea what happened to it after he passed away last year, from leukemia.

Ria tactical 2 tone with vz operator grips and a few Ed brown bits. It's rough and ugly but it's been on my hip pretty much everyday for 5 years. It's killed 1 coyote,3 fox ,a few raccoons, a family of 7 skunks that moved In under my chicken shed and several groundhogs. The finish is pretty worn from being carried while I do yard/farm work but I wouldn't be without it.

    We call that honest wear.

The notches in the grip must be on the other side.....

I'm down to ~15 1911s, most are early. Here's a Pre-70 LW Commander I had Master Pistol Smith John Harrison build me some years ago. rather than checkering, I went with serrations... His work is incredible...
