So I have a question. On the W&C questionnaire specifically Question 7 aboutbeing voluntarily in a mental hospital,I was in 2005 for Ptsd. No issues since. But how do I move forward on thi? Current doc has no problems with me carrying or owning but if petrified to submit a letter saying as such I am good to go.

    Suggestions,comments?

If you were there less than 30 days the DMHS would not have submitted paperwork so you should be ok.

If more than 30 you are prohibited.

Do disclose it if less than 30 in the app however

Will do thank you. I. Have input the information into the app already. I also have my hospital discharge paperwork that I found. So I think I will be good to go.

The state police only have "access" to the state of maryland hospital records. My father designed it, the only records that trigger a ping is state hospital stuff. Anything private is not on the system.

The way it works is the state police send a request to the DMHG system, and it encodes your name and birthday and sees if there is a record that matches your encoded info. It is literally just saying we have a record of encoded sequence gtety14534 ( fake oboviously ) on a separate server file and if your info encodes to gtety14534 then it triggers a rejection. The state police cant look up your name on the dmhg servers and the dmhg cant see that you where looked up. It entirely just looks for encoded matches. Before anyone thinks false triggers are possible, yes it is, but they ran a batch test of 100k fake files and only had one match. They can then take the rejection and contact dmhg for a deeper look, but they have never had a false match in the active system.

Your record is only entered there for 2 conditions

    1. Involuntary commitment
    2. Voluntary commitment of more than 30 days

It is also reported to NICS
