Good point.See, this has been hashed to death in the Open and Concealed Carry Thread. There's been no mention in The Depot.
Let's beat it to death here.

^^^ THIS ^^^A pistol carried for self defense in condition 3 is basically a rock.
Yup. In any self defense scenario, the good guy is always playing catch-up. He is already behind the 8 ball.^^^ THIS ^^^
I am really beginning to believe that most people here watch WAY too many bullsh!t action movies and actually believe they will have time to dick around with getting their gun loaded. I am embarrassed for these people and were it not so sad and stupid, it would be funny.
Many/most have never been involved in ANY sort of physical altercation and really do not understand how quickly and violently events unfold. Things happen VERY quickly, and many/most do not seem to realize is that, as a mere armed citizen, we will always be condemned to 'reaction mode', while any bad guy has already taken the initiative and things are in motion before you are even aware.
While every SD situation is NOT a quick-draw solution, enough are that we cannot assume there will be time to do anything at all. There is no way one can be fast enough to respond effectively with an inoperative handgun. Sometimes there is not even time to draw, let alone fvck around with the gun to make it ready. If it's not ready when you grab it, it is indeed equivalent to a rock.
^^THIS, regardless of where you stand on the subject. Beat to death since the article came out 4 yrs ago.Oh my. Here we go again.
Condition 1 ......or leave it in the safe.
Well, yes, but it’s also what I carry! While I realize you're being funny, there are a number of people on this forum who would seemingly be better off with a DAO or decocker-equipped pistol so they could carry hammer down without the apparent drama of manually lowering the hammer.
My comfort with carrying in condition 1 would probably revolve around the presence of a firing pin safety.
I like to keep the slide on my left, frame on my right and then cross draw to assemble. It's very safe.
You're not worried about pinching yourself during a hasty reassembly??I like to keep the slide on my left, frame on my right and then cross draw to assemble. It's very safe.
Keep your phone camera on when you walk in the hood. I want to see the evidence photos to see how well that works out for you.I like to keep the slide on my left, frame on my right and then cross draw to assemble. It's very safe.

So where do you keep the round(s)?Same here, except the mag goes in the left sock (I'm right-handed).
Condition 1 – Locked, Cocked, and Ready to RockI see there has been a of discussion about carrying a pistol cocked and locked. Lots of first timers in MD with WC for the first time. Gun Digest has a good article discussing it.
Should You Carry Your Pistol Cocked And Locked?
Many are wary of carrying in their pistol in Condition One — cocked and locked — but is that fear based in reality or merely perception?gundigest.com
