Hmmm...32 years in the military and I never once received any training (especially firearms related) from civilian police. Wonder how I missed this... I was probably sick that day. Nor did I ever send any of my soldiers to such events. Now, we did send our surgeons and other medical staff to some of America's more active combat zones (major metropolitan trauma centers) to receive some of the latest and greatest trauma surgery and ballistic wound management TTPs from civilian medical teams employed in such facilities-- highly sought after training. Nope-- it was usually our troops that trained police and security personnel (from several foreign governments) on many different topics/skills during my tenure--.

Same here. I remember as a Platoon Sergeant I was asked by a Squad Leader why we trained so much. I said, " You probably believe we train because the Command wants to keep all of us alive...and in a sense that's true, but in a bigger sense, we train to keep them all alive."

FBI testing in the 80s found that 5.56 duty rounds penetrated less walls and were less dangerous than the pistol rounds they were considering at the time when hitting walls because the high velocity rounds immediately fragment, destabilize, and start losing energy.

The problem with the original Box o’ Truth test is that they spaced the drywall so close together. I believe a subsequent test they did spacing them out like rooms are found what the FBI did that it reduced 5.56 drywall penetration more than it reduced pistol caliber penetration.

I have stated in the past most DC cops are ahole anti 2A morons. One of my younger brothers is a DC FF Captain and he told me as such. Guns for me not for thee. He said most FF, whether black or white or whatever tend to be a lot more pro 2A.

I have a good friend that is MPD, at least for another year until he retires. He made the comment that no one but police need a magazine with more than 10 rounds, back when DC started issuing carry permits. I told him he could eat a bag of dicks, and asked what incite he had as to why? His comment was, that he, and others didn't want to have to deal with anyone that carried the same or more, number of rounds as they did. I repeated that he could eat a bag of dicks. We are still friends, we still hang out and even go to the range, but his outlook on "civilian" firearms ownership hasn't changed.

I trained a rookie that retired after 24 years as a Master Sergeant in the Marines. Does that mean that I trained the military too?

I know an ex-cop who thinks like this idiot. When he retired, he simply didn't turn his sidearm in. He didn't ask to keep it, he didn't offer to buy it, he just walked out with it after his last shift and never turned it in. He looked me right in the eyes at dinner one night (his wife is my friend, not him) and told me that I shouldn't be allowed to own a pistol or any "military style" firearms. I asked why he has a pistol if he thinks that. He said that he was a cop so he should be able to have one. You can't argue with that special level of arrogant stupidity and I respect my friend so I just told him I disagree and changed the subject.

Yep, for a time I was a training NCO at Headquarters, Headquarters Company US Army Ft Myer. I was part of a training cadre that provided military training to quite a few officers of Flag Rank and whole of E9s in the Military District of Washington that were a part of the command, and some that weren't.
Can I update my training credentials and join the club?
