If they really wanted these bus drivers, they should have had them hired before the last contract was up. That seems to be the status quo on service contract transitions I've been a part of.
Pretty sure I read that the old contract didn’t expire until 2027. Not sure how that works if true unless the county had a clause to get out.

It was in one of the articles linked up thread if I read it correctly.

Seems like between the bus contract and the Heritage Farm lease, folks should be cautious about entering into agreements with the County.

One of the justifications for the increase of $20,000,000 for zum was that zum would also be handling sports transportation. Guuuueeeeesssssss whatttttttt? Word is coming in today that games are getting canceled across the county because the teams don't have transportation.
Lol I just read that too. Nextdoor is on FIRE right now

    Have a link? I'm bored. :D
These two pics were just posted. I gotta wait until someone else comments on the bus thread again and I’ll be able to find it and send it to you.

Further evidence that you get what you vote for----50+ years ago when I was in highschool-in BaltCo-busses showed up every day--generally on time--they showed up for sports teams in the afternoon too--no GPS-no computers setting routes-no out of state contractors-just a bunch of generally retired old guys driving buses with stick shifts.

Not HoCo but here in Anne Arundel, I followed a school bus that stopped 6 times in less than a quarter mile to discharge kids. WTH? Can’t those little turds walk more than an eighth of a mile? :mad54:

Womp womp. Yeahhhhhh... she couldn't make the turn and hit the guard rail when trying to get back on Montgomery rd. Just because of how the car loop is, it's right turn only coming out on to old Montgomery rd. Many drivers will use the church's parking lot to the flip a u turn to get to 108 instead of heading all the way down to Tamar. She had a bit of an oopsie in trying to navigate that.

Actually, not empty. The buildings house antique machinery, housewares, etc. The displays are set-up in period order so you can take a walk through time. They put on blacksmith demonstrations, equipment demonstrations, educational tours, etc.

It is a very interesting and educational resource and the County has provided no real reason for terminating their lease. (Letter stated “in best interest of the County”.) And to give an establishment of this size only 90 days to find another location and move all of the equipment and displays is absolutely absurd.

Makes one curious if a developer’s project coincidentally appears on that property. (Maybe that’s where Zum’s new lot is going.)

I wasn’t aware they actually finished the construction inside. That last two times I was there it was unfinished with some random machinery stored inside. I really like the concept of what they had in mind. I’m glad at least some of it came to fruition. They could’ve made it a museum/wedding/event venue and made bank.

Government is so incompetent it's unbelievable. The more more you give them the less they can accomplish.
Not just government, employers cannot keep up with salary/benefits for the few eligible workers they can find.

Also, Kids behavior on the buses is nothing like when we were kids, the crap the drivers have to tolerate these days would make the average MDS person want to drive them into the nearest deep water quarry and drink a few glasses of straight scotch. No water, no ice.

Robotics may be more and more cost effective soon. How would you feel about remotely operated school buses?

The museum and exhibit buildings are all the way in the back, past the rancher.

    Depends on the road type.

Ok, I’m talking about the huge metal warehouse barn looking building directly behind the white two story house as you come in. You can see this building from the road. There were plans to make that a large exhibit hall where schools could have field trips or a business could rent it out to host a cocktail party or something.

Wife suggested I take up school bus driving now that I'm retired. Asked her if she really disliked me that much as I would be jailed the first time one of those "students" acted up.
