      This forum is ON FIRE!

Haven't been here for a while, but it certainly looks like people have their ear to the ground on the recent 2A happenings. That's a good thing. Even better is that this is just one state gun forum, imagine the combined activity (and activism) on all state forums combined with national forums...

A good video on the Battle of Athens

I just got an email link to this video. Never heard of it before now, very interesting and very pertinent to what's going on in this state right now...IMO. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Athens_(1946)

"Gun Safety" new media name for "Gun Control" groups?

Sorry if this is a repeat post on this topic. I was driving along in my car the other day listening to NPR on the radio. They were discussing the gun control debate in the wake of the recent elementary school shooting. But they wouldn't refer to the traditional gun control groups as what they...

      USA Today Poll...

Not sure if this one has already been posted, if so sorry for repeat post. "Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?" So far 97% say yes, 2% say no and 1% undecided, with a whopping 3,765,751 votes (almost 4 million!) :party29...

The eternal debate, 9mm vs. .40

IMO the 9mm would be a better choice. Ammo is cheaper allowing abundant practice, obviously the most critical element for developing proficiency. And the 9mm is a world proven capable manstopper, especially out of a carbine (like the Hi-Point) which has a longer barrel than a pistol. The longer...

      9mm defense ammo?

Winchester white box FMJ's. It'll poke holes in stuff. Leather jackets, denim or collarbones are not a problem. Simple, cheap and the same kind I target shoot with. So if I ever needed the pistol for self defense, the gun will behave exactly as it does at the range - increasing odds of accuracy...

      30rd mag question

You're right, but I thought I'd offer the complete high cap mag legal issue as I had to learn it prior to getting my own high cap mags (I've been in the OP's exact situation before). Dullyjams may be in a situation where he is weighing his options prior to purchasing high cap mags "abroad" and...

      30rd mag question

The cited law is Maryland state law. It is only applicable in Maryland (although certain other states have similar laws). But what it means is that you (i.e. a non-FFL dealer) cannot receive, sell or transfer high capacity mags to anyone else who is also a non-dealer while within the state of...

Great New Article for Frosh Debating

The news report video indicated that the guy that was shot was trying to get up when the pharmacist plugged him in the stomach. The pharmacist also did not secure the perp's weapon after he went down and immediately went out in pursuit of the other guy, so it is not completely inconceivable that...

Cynicism has killed the gun-control debate - Sun

Rodrick's thoughts and attitude on this are so over the top, I almost suspect he's deliberately goading his readers by showing comtempt for them. He's a troll, look at what he writes, all the while knowing there are thousands reading what he says that vehemently disagree. I've seen this on MSNBC...

Several calibers vs. few for ammo availiblity

Hughmon I agree with your assessment concerning having more guns with varying calibers. I used to be of the thought that I wanted to keep my collection to only a few common calibers; only 9mm, 308, 223, 22, 12g and 7.62x39 for me. But what I've learned about ammunition is that, like vegetables...

Scotland Contemplating Ban on Air Rifles

Fixed it for ya. Remember, rubber bands can be "shot" at another person.

Cynicism has killed the gun-control debate - Sun

Custer was largely outgunned from attacking Indians due to their use of Winchester repeaters (vs the single shot rifles issued to US Army at that time). The Winchester repeater was the "spray from the hip assault rifle" of that time. Considering that many on the left think it was perfectly...

      Favorable recent Gallup poll

I'm surprised to read that the maximum percentage in favor of a handgun ban was measured in 1959 (60%!). And since then has trended strongly downward, even during the late 60's when the progressive/liberal movement really took off in the US. 1959 was the Eisenhower era, people still had morals...

Cynicism has killed the gun-control debate - Sun

Wow, Mr Rockricks has really come up with a new one with this "analysis": "Absent leadership that would promulgate greater control of guns, we fear mass killings will continue. So, the thinking goes, maybe it's best to be prepared - have a gun handy, just in case the madman comes to your...
