      "Not for ball" shotgun

      I have a really old English made SxS 12 ga shotgun. Under the handguard the barrels are labeled "NOT FOR BALL", along eith a bunch of other stuff. What exactly does that mean? Does this mean that I cannot shoot modern shot shells in it?
