The ejection port does have to be opened up, a little over 100 thousandths. The devil is in the details though: I opened up the bottom of the port, so the ejection port cover could still be used (closed). I was having ejection problems though, so I thought I'd have to open up the top too...
A cousin in Alaska asked me to build him a .458 SOCOM upper (think bears & such). I didn't have any experience with the cartridge, so I started researching. Pretty amazing: fit a .458, 250-500 grain bullet into an AR-15 platform...kind of like the .300 BLK on steroids. Heft investment in...
No safety issues, more of just function issues (and I doubt even that). .008 is actually not that much, when you consider larger rounds (say M118LR, which can spec as low as .010 below headspace) which actually have a true shoulder to blow forward, pulling brass from the web of the case, and...
If it's a Navy trophy rifle, Jim Adell can verify. From the US Navy Shooting Team website:
US Navy Trophy rifle verification service:
With a probability of greater than 95%, the authenticity can be verified for the following rifles which were awarded by the US Navy and the US Marine Corps...
Concerns about tumbling? Not with any load in a load manual. Hell, even if you go below manual loads (as bullseye shooters often do), still not a concern. Accuracy for bullseye shooting is always measured at 50 yards. What kind of 9mm are you shooting? If it's an out-of-the-box retail...
White Oak Armament uses Wilson barrels, and are a great deal. They'll shoot great all the way out to 600 yards. The 1:8 will stabilize anything you're going to shoot. The 1:7 I think is overkill...but if you plan on shooting 90's, you have to go at least that fast. Take a look at the recent...
Just a recommendation, but match shooters drill & tap the 4 pin holes for 10-32 allen head cap screws, then mill flats on the barrel. This allows the front sight to be adjusted for windage, keeping your mechanical and no-wind zeros in the same spot.
WARNING: Bitter grapes, crying babies, and general hate and discontent follow. You've been warned.
Waste of time, waste of money. No rule of law...hell, no rules in general. Not representative of respective shooting disciplines (they had nobody from the respective disciplines involved in...
Wow folks, no big deal...I'm always in large supply of 9mm military brass, which you usually can't give away! Trick G got this one, but I offered Coop 9mm when he's got family in town (no, this isn't Salvation Army, so don't start the line...just smoothing things over).
In my never-ending quest to get the quickest, easiest shine on my brass before reloading, I experiment a lot. My latest experiment has failed on an epic level. I mixed 9mm military brass, stainless steel cut shot, and ceramic media to see what kind of polished shine it would produce. I didn't...
Match is ongoing...through 2 days of shooting, and the match has had it's ups and downs. GOODS: About 160 shooters, with some big names: Miculek, Horner, Cooper, Green, Shue, Clark, Piatt. PNTC has great facilities. Wide variety of shooting stages (15 stages total). Match sternly laid out...
Try Bullseye Pistol...in a 270 shot match, 90 of those shots are made one-handed at 50 yards (10 shots in 10 minutes). The black on the B-8 target is 8 inches across (that's the 8 ring)...the X-ring is 1.7" across! Great training, great focus on fundamentals..
You guys are awesome, really make a guy feel at home. I hope to leverage this to restore even the smallest level of support the Navy shooters get at higher level competition (our funding was cut last year...the first time since 1966 the Navy hasn't had Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane...
