One Second After is a good read about "a man who struggles to save his family and his small North Carolina town after America loses a war, in one second, a war that will send America back to the Dark Ages...A war based upon a weapon, an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP). A weapon that may already be in the hands of our enemies." I particularly liked it at the time because I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC so I could almost put myself in the main character's shoes.

My biggest concern in losing the grid to EMP, hackers, or CME. I currently consult the Google when I need to do something and read a few web pages and watch a few YouTube videos, then go do it. But what happens if you can no longer do that?
I've been visiting thrift stores for several years hoarding books that I think will be useful in TEOTWAWKI situations. Things like home repair, plumbing, carpentry, fire place building, cooking, preserving foods, sewing, folk medicine, first aid, survival skills, basket making, gardening, hunting and fishing, reloading and gun smithing, hand tool usage, military history and tactics, foraging wild edibles, knot tying, hiking and biking trails and topo maps, martial arts, well digging and water pump making, and so on.
There is a chain of thrift stores throught Denver that has half off almost everything in the stores on Saturdays so I go then and get books cheap.
Here are some examples:
