45 acp ammo question

    I look at it this way.... the 230 grn "hardball" roundnose, will do its job everytime. Ask the countless Nazi's who fell to this round (and the same round is fired in trench brooms aka Tommy guns) and the enemies of the state, who fell to it, in the over 75 years the 45ACP, was used as a sidearm for the military.

    Personally - with the exception of not over penetrating, such in a home invasion , I dont see the point of using a hollowpoint in a 45ACP. That caliber gets dubbed "manstopper" for a reason.

    The standard 45 round Roundball is more then adequent. Not to mention you can shoot more of them and practice with the same ammo, you plan on using for self defense.

    I hear you, but the premium rounds will penetrate perfectly fine in the same targets where penetration is necessary. See post #9 to link to the Winchester and Federal tests showing what these HP boolets look like after hitting various things. These rounds act much like ball when hitting glass or wood or steel. With the added benefit of chopping up to a 1.05” diameter hole in a bad guy that is over a foot long. Personally, I like that thought.
