I am thinking about getting one to contrast with my 15-22. I have a specific question for an owner. Thanks
Ive been confused by these are they Chiappa designed or just Chiappa imported versions of the Romak .22s which were ok with decent ammo.
We have been offering the Chiappa RAK22 Rifle for a few years now and not had any problems reported from our shooters .The only real issue has been the lack of aftermarket hi cap mags .
I guess this might be going against the lesson you just learned but I have hear good things about the Tippman M4-22 if you wanted to try something different then another 15-22. Of course it does take different magazines. I just received mine but haven't got to he range yet. It seemed there were lots of good reviews out there and I notice it has more heft then my friends 15-22. I think the worse part about the Tippman is there is no speed loader right now.
UPDATE:
The Chiappa Rak-22 I bought sucked. I could not get it to feed thru an entire magazine. Using the factory 10rd mags. I hope they can get it to work, but they made it a pain in the ass to send back. I wouldn't buy a Chiappa product again. Even though I have a Rak 9, that has run great so far, and I love it.
The Grizzly Defense conversion sucked worse. It started off great. Not super easy to install, but I did it according to the instructions and DVD, and got it running. Ran about half to 3/4 of a mag, then boom, and smoke came out of the ejection port. I had an out of battery discharge and blew the extractor off the gun, and being outside on gravel, I could not find it. So, I am going to try to contact them and see if I can get something. But, it sucks.
Furthermore, my Bear Creek Arsenal .22 upper was a massive failure as well. Sending that POS back for a refund.
My ATI M4-22 was a POS as well. Sent that back, and they sent it back worse than before I sent it in. Turned out they replaced the firing pin, and installed the hammer spring backwards.
So, my lesson learned? Stick with what I know works. I'll be buying another 15-22.
So, after emailing Chiappa a few times, I called them to see what was going on with my Rak 22. The news was the magazine well was cut too loose and they wanted to replace the rifle, however, they are on backorder, so, like everything else, gotta wait. I swear, I may be done buying guns at this rate. Maybe that last 15-22 though.
That makes sense based on how the mags fit. So much for quality control.
