You possibly can’t read a map, the southeast part of the county is touching the bay. The southwest portion is touching Howard County.

That link suggests salt petre was found in the Gunpowder River and helped give it its name. I found this little creek and wonder how it got its name.

Yes I am near Watersedge area of Dundalk. I have been in this area for many years.

Whereabouts? I grew up in the area, on Fairgreen Rd. My brother has a waterfront on Bullneck Rd. And I keep my boat at Anchor Bay East Marina.

There's a Minebank Run north of Cromwell Bridge Road near Towson which runs into the Gunpowder. I always heard saltpeter was mined along the Gunpowder and used to make powder for the Continental Army.
Another source was nightsoil from chamberpots. Abigail Adams organized the ladies of Boston to contribute theirs to the cause.

Is it ON the Bay...? Maybe not. Is it a 2 minute boat ride down a brackish river to the Bay... yes. Its splitting hairs, in my opinion.
