I prob had a few thousand through the gun and the accuracy started slipping a bit. Once cleaned though it was restored. I don't think that cleaning the barrel every few thousand is over kill... Thoughts? Thanks for the knowledge mudskipper
depends largely on ammo ure using. 22's still get fouling. Better lubed ammo, like wolf match and extra match, will not substantially foul or lead your barrel. cheap bulk box stuff will often lead the last few inches of your barrel when the lube runs out and still foul ure bore. If you don't think fouling happens in a .22....look at your crown and those nice carbon deposits there. A bore snake now and again isn't that big a deal(so long as you don't f up your crown by pulling it out to the side instead of straight). If you're worried about bore erosion from cleaning, you could always just shoot some wipeout in there and run a patch on a jag and good one-piece rod a few hours later. It'd be nice and clean without the harm from overcleaning.
