    Making the handles withe 1/4'' flat stock, ruff cut out the tear drop pieces with the portaban saw and finished on the belt sander. bent 1/2'' round bar in the vice after heating with a torch red hot. Welded the handles in from the back side.

    I'm using white oak to make the bed.Picked up some ruff cut that I ran through the plainer and cut to shape on the table saw and drilled all the holes for the hard wear. then I glued them together to make the bed. Milled out the slot for the trunnion and hand chiseled out the sloped ramp to get it to fit the barrel at a 45 % angel . then I panted it O.D. green and the hardware flat black. :)

    It's done. Some Pic's with it's little bro the Golf ball mortar. I think it looks a lot like the original in the last pic. Need to make the tompin plug for the muzzle :)

    Great work! Interesting that in the picture provided there are 3 different bed designs. Cosmetic differences, of course, but any ideas about why?

    They probably came from 3 different manufacturers.I know the one I made is a Confederate style the one on the left side is a Union style.
