I got a doe recently. While I was field dressing it I cut through the utters and noticed a white liquid seeping out. I assumed it was milk. I proceeded to squeeze the breast tissue into a glass and take a sip. It tasted alright but was warmer than my body temperature which felt uncomfortable to me. Has anyone else tried drinking the milk from a doe before? Is there a way to harvest the milk that is left.

I made fun of this when you posted on Facebook.

I think you're spending too much time in the woods if you're harvesting doe milk...

I've dressed does out before and the milk is something else you have to watch for, when slitting the belly. I don't like getting milk all over the abdomen when you're try to keep everything sterile and clean of debris.

Never quite figured out how to do it cleanly with the mammary glands.

The mammaries should get dressed out before breaking the seal on the abdomen. The milk resides external to the abdominal wall. It stays that way when removed first.
