Previously I was filling my PCP guns with my 3000 PSI scuba tank. This worked very well when I only had 2000 and 3000 PSI guns. When I moved up to the 4000 PSI guns, I had to fill partially from the tank and then use the compressor for the rest. What a pain.

My Air Venturi Wingman 74 came today. :party29: After inspecting it and finding it fine, I filled it halfway using my scuba tank and now am filling the rest of the way using the compressor.

I used AOA's calculator and figure I can fill from 3000 to 4000 14 times before I need to refill the tank (starting with a tank fill of 4300). That is really going to make me use my .25 caliber rifle more and I can throw the tank in the car and take it to my shooting range if I want to shoot at longer distances.

I will probably be selling my scuba tank and gauge manifold in the near future. ;)

I have a Ninja paintball tank, 4500 psi fill with my compressor. I have a regulator set to 3000. I fill my stuff from that and really like it. It's about the size of a football and is easily transported. I've seen the new higher pressure guns. What advantages are you gaining going to that fill pressure? Just wondering. My .25 MRod shoots great but I've found accuracy declines above 900fps.
Glad you found a solution for your situation.

    Vince,

I shoot 33 grain pellets or 34 gn slugs in my .25 and I get the best accuracy with the regulator set at 2200. This gives me @52 FPE at 850 FPS at the muzzle. By filling up to 4000 PSI, I get to shoot more before filling up again.

Oh, Okay, more bang per fill. I was wondering if you were using the higher pressure to gain velocity. 33 grain slug at 850 should whomp nicely. Surprised you are getting that velocity with the lower pressure. What do you shoot with those slugs? I use the JSBs to good effect. Predator Polymags are nice. They certainly hit hard.

I shoot the heavy JSBs sometimes too, they have killed a few ground hog with them. My MRod shoots them well and they are quiet. I have a modified shroud on it with aftermarket depinging in the air chamber. I'm very happy with it even without a regulator.
Are your slugs the lead conical similar to the ones made by FX? I've watched Ted shoot them to good effect on birds.
Do you hunt with your gun?

My slugs are made by AVS and are hollow points similar to H&N but with a smaller HP. https://www.pyramydair.com/product/h-n-slug-hp-217-cal-21-grains-hollowpoint-200ct?p=1544

https://avsslugs.com/ Steven Bianchi swagges the AVS slugs himself and has done lots of testing with them. He also has some really good videos on shooting them.

I hunt to remove pests close in with my .22's and out to 60 yards or so with my .25. The .25 is tuned for 52 FPE at the muzzle and 34gn slugs kill raccoons at 60 yards with no problem.

Nice. I've dumped more than a few groundhogs at 40 or so yards with my MRod shooting the heavier JSBs. With the accuracy I try to shoot them like hogs, behind the ear.
