Anyone interested in a play-by-play takedown of Hawaii's Supreme Court decision overruling that "other" Sorta Supreme Court in DC might enjoy this lengthy bitch-slap:

The Hawai'i supreme court justices have a future writing for the Babylon Bee.

Someone needs to remind the Hawaiian Supreme Court about the existence of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

They seem to think that anything that occurred before they joined the union doesn't apply to them.

The writers at The Bee couldn't have done better. If The Bee reprinted it verbatim, people would think it came from them.

    Interesting.
The history of Hawaii, in part, starts out with armed Hawaiians fighting James Cook and his crew of sailors. That was some Aloha in the end Cook got cooked.

I seriously doubt the Hawaiians had any prohibition on weapons prior to Cook; or that there is anything documented about it.

    I may stand corrected.
Was it in a pit with banana leaves and an apple in his mouth?

The history is murky on that. Likely an imu but maybe not.
IIRC post fight they returned Cooks hands; and maybe later his bones.

My thoughts are the Hawaiians long pig'd Cook but like I said, the history is murky.

That same spirit of Aloha that Cook got can be directed to Howlies or others in Hawaii. For the Hi SC to say the 2A is not Aloha is complete nonsense.

    SCOTUS will love this tidbit:

Long ago, the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court announced that an “opinion of the
United States Supreme Court . . . is merely another source of
authority, admittedly to be afforded respectful consideration,
but which we are free to accept or reject in establishing the
outer limits of protection afforded by . . . the Hawaiʻi
    Constitution.”

True ! But what they just said doesn't mean what they thought they said .

Indeed , States aren't bound by the * Outer * Limits set by SCOTUS, or the Constitution. They most certainly can use their State Constitution to confir even MORE Freedoms than SCOTUS minimums .

But they can't violate the * inner * limits set by SCOTUS of floor level of Rights nationwide.

Excellent point; I hadn't looked at that aspect, being more bemused bytheir court's view of collegiality over hierarchy.

Less than five months to stock up, Haole!

Once you're disarmed, keep your eye on the horizon for the Chinese invasion fleet.
Doesn't matter how many blades of grass you've got to hide behind when all you've got are old fowling pieces and 22 rimfire gallery rifles. (Though they'll be going away in the next legislative session).
