Rocky gap is really nice with decent bathrooms. They have a lake.

There is a hotel and golf course at the other end of the park.

    Also, no booze? What?
MD state campgrounds started this BS about 4 years ago. You can only consume alcohol inside your camping unit. How f'ing stupid is that? So, you can go inside your tent/car/camper and get sh!tfaced, then come outside and behave like an *******. Responsible adults cannot even have an open beer around a campfire without fear of the rangers coming by and escorting you out. So asinine.

We used to have about 20-25 peeps go to Cunningham Falls every October for our homebrew club's annual BrewCamp. Then they stared this crap, and we haven't been back since. Now, we take our money to PA and go to Granite Hill Camping Resort outside of Gettysburg. They have a wide variety of sites, and they welcomed us with opened arms.

I'm gonna second Elk Neck State park. Shenandoah is nice too. Greenridge, if you don't need showers, bathrooms or running water.

You can camp most any State Park in Maryland that has camping facilities. Check out the DNR Web site for the direction you want to travel.
    http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/campinginfo.asp
However, you may want to check ahead of time because they do close down in the winter. Most don't have heated bathrooms to keep them from freezing.

If you are looking for something a little nicer, Harrington Manor and New Germany have cabin rentals year round. You just have to check scheduling.

As others have said, alcoholic beverages are not allowed in Maryland State Parks ($55 fine if caught). But, that is not just Maryland. Other states have banned alcoholic beverages in their parks as well (MD, PA, VA, & DE). At Codorus State Park in PA they won’t even let you in the gates with alcohol. And if they do catch you with alcoholic beverages, they will confiscate it or make you leave. Somebody mentioned Granite Hill being ok with drinking. Granite Hill is a private Camp Ground. As long as you are courteous and cordial, they don't care.

There are several very nice Private Camp Grounds in and around the Gettysburg Area. Drummer Boy, Round Top, Artillery Ridge, and Granite Hill are the only ones I know of personally. If you like ridding horses, Artillery Ridge offers Horse Back tours of the battlefield.

I went to Deep Creek with the Domestic Administrator this past weekend. It was a bit of a hump from the Eastern Shore, but worth it. Beautiful fall foliage going on right now.
Didn't camp, stayed at the Inn at Deep Creek, which I recommend. Only about $150 a night, all in, with the dog.
Nice room with a kitchenette, good sized fridge, deck off the room, grilles & picnic tables on site.

As far as camping, I'm also a fan of Assateague, if you're into that sort of thing.
Sunrise over the ocean is surreal, and fall surf fishing should be turning on pretty soon.. I hope. We have the beach tag for our trucks, so you can drive on the 13 or so miles of beach.. love it.

Heading up to Green Ridge with a few of the guys this weekend. No facilities though so if you're opposed to taking care of business in the woods, it's probably not for you lol.

Deep creek has one of the nicest bathroom/shower !

I was floored to see it and its worth the hot shower after all day of fishing in the cold front.

Well, don't take what we crazy floridians call things for fact. We kind of make shit up as we go.

Car camping is really just a way to describe not hiking in to the site. Plus, you can keep the coolers in the car so wildlife leaves it alone.

lived in this area all my life and have always called that car camping

IMO if you need bath houses then shenandoah is the way to go
