Since buying some reactive targets, my wife LOVES to shoot her .22. She wasn't much at punching holes in paper but trying to hit a dinger the size of a quarter or dime is more of a challenge for her. Between that and practice for me for competitions, I am going through a lot more than ever before.

I can't blame all the retailers for the price hikes. I've seen the invoices they are getting from distributors for .22 and the retailers I know are not making that much. When I see Fed Auto Match for $35-$50 for 325 it makes me want to puke when WM sells it for $18-$19 when they have it. But maybe they buy direct like they do most stuff.

I would imagine WM buys on contract for some period of time. Hopefully the price of .22 drops before their contract is up. Looks like their 9mm and .45 are coming back down some but their .223/5.56 is still way too high.

WM buys in massive BULK. They can place an order larger than any other retailer in the country. Manufacturer's/wholesalers like that, it's good for their cash flow and long-term plans, and it's good for the consumers.

On Sunday I had zero rounds on Sunday and I am at over 5,000 as of today and adding another 1000 a day (one from the day shift one from the night shift).

I'm been shopping WM for ammo for about a year now, and NEVER have seen Fed Auto Match bulk 325 or anything similar at the three or four WM's I shop. Max size I've seen were 100 packs of mini-mags (many months ago). It's been several months since I've seen any 22 a WM.

I just did a total for the above poll using the mid point of each range and the starting point for the last entry times the number of respondents. The total comes to:

1,955,135 Total .22 rounds. Since there were 316 voters:

6,187 average rounds per poll participant.

Are you keeping up your end of the MDS members average?

I guess so as I have about 2.5x the average while still selling some to my buds. Almost the time of year to start burning up the no-name stuff for serious practice.
