Watkins Park in the Largo area (trails behind the Nature Center)

Patuxent Research Refuge, North Tract... (check with the Contact Center)

Possibly at Quiet Waters Park (near Annapolis), or Downs Park in Pasadena (west side)

Meadowside Nature Center - Montgomery Parks

Montgomery Parks' Meadowside Nature Center offers outdoor and environmental education programming for families, schools, and scouts.

Meadowside hosts the paw paw festival every year. Be cautious though as the trails are marked "beware of copperheads".

I coulda told you it was a giant puff ball.

Can you eat it?

Yes you can eat them, the only one I am sure enough of its ID that I will eat. Slice it thin, 3/16-1/4 inch, and fry in butter.
