I created a "one-time" throwaway account on this forum a couple of years ago, for a gag post. This morning the forum software sent me an email at the address I used for that account, saying someone had tried 5 times unsuccessfully to log in, and the account was frozen for 15 minutes.

So it appears that someone is running a bot to attempt to hack passwords on this forum. I tracert'ed the IP, it ended up somewhere in .ru (figures...)

Admins, I just wanted to make you aware of this, and I hope everyone is using reasonably secure passwords. I know mine really isn't too complex, and I'll be remedying that soon.

A huge congrats indeed! I joined up back in 2007 when I was still in college at Towson... my how things have changed! (Looking back I should have stocked up on ammo then)

Here's something that shows the volume of these milestones. The first time I took a 2 week vacation roughly 4-5 years ago I came back to a little over 4k new posts. I haven't been on MDS for exactly 2 weeks and just came back to 29,629 new posts.
