Why did you choose that caliber for your first handgun?

Are you familiar with shooting the .357?

I've always liked revolvers. The look, the feel, the simplicity of it all. I prefer Mary Ann over Ginger. I am willing to sacrifice ammo capacity for reliability at 2 AM. I need a gun that goes bang every time. I need stopping power. I also like that it takes both .38special and .357's. Great versatility indeed! I don't have enough experience to professionally speak on dependability on various types of hand guns but I know I will sleep better with a revolver in the house.

I tried a few pistols at a range with a friend and after running several boxes through each, the S&W 686 .357 won out.

Is it a -1? If so does it have the "M" stamped over the serial number? If it is is a -1 without the "M" you can send it back to S&W on their dime to have it modified and the "M" stamped on it.
