Honest question, does anyone here really think anyone will be held accountable for violating these people’s rights?

I don’t know, but I imagine they will just say the charges were dropped so no harm no foul. I mean this happens ALL of the time. Granted it might not happen to this community much, but it happens.

Not to derail too much, but there is an ongoing discussion as to whether police officers should be held financially accountable for their inappropriate actions.

The entire debate is a double edged sword.

You know I was just thinking that more then 2 people were harmed from this criminal act of an illegal arrest . What about the other Patriots that were intimidated and subjected to illegal request of moving off the public sidewalk and limiting their expression of free speech and the ability to walk where ever they wanted .

I would have been in fear dealing with the un-stable MCP officers that were foaming at the mouth and tunnel vision .

You can meet at either Mission BBQ to eat with fellow Patriots from 530 to 630 and be in place at Blagden St and College Ave at 7 PM for the event. There is nothing else to coordinate

I habe a feeling that the crowd will be too big for mission, and maybe even that part of the docks.

There needs to be a backup plan for parking other than the garage, in case it fills, and that means letting people know to be there earlier than 7, so they habe time to ride the trolley, or some thing else.

6:30 press conference means cameras. And there should be bodies in motion before then.

We will be investigating the parking at the Navy Stadium, which means a short hike.

Trolleys stop running or run infrequently in the evenings

Even during daytime hours day 9-10am, it can take an hour to get from the navy stadium to lawyers mall by trolley. And that's on non major event days.

You know, even with the charges being dropped, I am still severely irked each and every time I read about this subject. If I was Jeff and his brother, I probably wouldn't be able to sleep for quite some time. I used to have nightmares about being wrongly arrested. Lord knows I have been wrongly charged before, but no handcuffs were involved and it was not because of a civil rights violation.

Having represented thousands of people who have been arrested I know that for first timers being arrested and especially being cuffed is a lot worse than most people would imagine.

    UPDATED

DGS Spox confirms charges to be dropped today.

Statement: "After a thorough review of all the evidence and supporting documentation, and after consulting with the Anne Arundel County States Attorney’s Office; the Maryland Capitol Police believes it is in the best interest of all parties involved not to pursue any criminal charges against Mr. Jeff Hulbert and Mr. Kevin Hulbert. Both defendants were charged on Monday, February 5, 2018. Today, MCP forwarded an official request to the states attorney’s office, asking that all the criminal charges in this case be dropped.

"The Maryland Capitol Police fully supports the 1st Amendment Rights of freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble. The department is committed to providing a safe environment for employees, visitors, and demonstrators that frequent state facilities, which is why the Maryland Capitol Police have the ability to determine times, locations, and venues in which these demonstrations may occur; particularly when it involves the safety of others. The Maryland Capitol Police work hard at facilitating an orderly environment that is safe and pleasant for all to express their 1st amendment rights.

The department will use this event to strengthen our community outreach training efforts and to further educate our officers and the general public, in order to clarify our "Demonstrating on Public Property" procedures so the policy is clear and understandable to the public for future demonstrations."

"OK, Patriot Picket. You get the top of the State House dome on Feb. 17th between the hours of 0245 and 0248. Bring your own ladder (it will be inspected by various State agencies). You can thank us later."

    Sincerely,

    Private Pope

If 2 locations aren’t enough, I don’t know what to advise. Overflow can eat downstairs too

On the dock location, there are numerous places within 100 yards.

For the Parole location, there is a burger place in the same strip shopping center.

I will say the last couple times it is fairly quiet at that time . Not sure if that is an alternative

I agree it can go nowhere good. Can a barney Fife... "I was just following orders tarnish the entire LEO community?" YES This needs to stop.

I fully support the Law Enforcement Community for the difficult job they do. As for as I know the Maryland Capitol Police are nothing more than glorified mall cops.

I would hate to take my blue light out of its socket supporting LEO for their actions. Im sure im not the only that fears the stain they have made. It won't go away without action. With responsibility comes repercussions.

They chose a paycheck instead of the Constitution. Fear the wrath of honesty.

I believe this is a text book case of a civil rights violation there could be. I won't go into detail (IANAL), but I can't imagine them not winning if it were to go to trial. My guess is that before the case can be sent to court, the state of Maryland will want to settle out of court.

That will be up to R&R and DL.

Mds has about 100 people confirmed. Facebook has another 50-70 confirmed. 100's interested. And I keep seeing random people that aren't a part of our groups saying they are going.
I live in a little 1 intersection town. One end to the other is 1 minute at 30 mph. 4 neighbors that I barely know are planning to go, and not because I asked them.

    Fabs ,

I could not agree more , it was wrong in every way . I think the only way for complete transparency and healing is for the person that ordered the arrest be revealed and exposed .
Then at that point Rack & DL can begin to trust and heal from the illegal acts forced upon them .

I also know you are also aware of my own dear son arrested , finger printed , had to sign papers for a 2nd degree assault . It is morally corrupt .

Let me reduce this to its simplest possible terms:

Rack and DL's civil rights were unlawfully violated.
Rack and DL's persons were unlawfully violated.
Same concept as the Rosa Parks and the Selma lunch counter incidents.
There must be a legal remedy.
    Civil AND criminal.

No thanks. I have already read the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights. I decline to be "further educated" on the proper time, place and manner of begging the Crown for the redress of grievances in a designated Free Speech Zone.

I have also read the Constitution of Maryland, and will reference it directly -

Art. 10. That freedom of speech and debate, or proceedings in the Legislature, ought not to be impeached in any Court of Judicature.

Art. 13. That every man hath a right to petition the Legislature for the redress of grievances in a peaceable and orderly manner.

I'm sure Mike and Mike will swear that Article 13 means via email or twitter.

I know if it were me, I'd have to see a doctor or 2. Seek help. It's gotta be a life changing experience. I know I wouldn't be able to handle it.

I wonder if they believe people think of them differently now that they've been arrested too?

But be careful about that. In this fricken state, they could interpret that as being mentally deficient to possess firearms.
