Man... how long has that property sat abandoned? Looks like there's an aboveground pool and deck buried in that jungle off to the left of the driveway.

Fantastic! That's not too far from me. Houston, we have a problem. There's a school near by (not that this should matter one whit), and I would bet a case of beer that some Marxist a$$holes are going to have a $hit fit. I hope I'm wrong.
Jump on nextDoor, the school has already been brought up. Lot of mud slinging….

Will the youth sports group (Gambrills Athletic) give pushback??

    You know, "for the chirluns"...

UPDATE... Drove by it on our way out today, and the property appears to be within 200y or so of the ballfield. Could get interesting.

Hell yeah! That's very close to me. Hope nothing stands in their way. If anyone finds out who they are or has contact info, if you wouldn't mind sharing - I'd love to offer support or assistance.

Irrelevant to existing law, it’s more than 100 yards from a place of public assembly.

    Theoretically.

Looks like they should add more classroom space!

Good Evening Everyone. My name is Joe Stern and I am the managing partner and the developer of Chesapeake Shooting Center on McKnew Road. I hope we can get this much support at the September Planning Commission meeting on September 15.
    To answer a couple questions:
The Primrose School is a Licensed Day Care and therefore does not meet the definition of a school, legally.
We have enough setback from the Gambrills Athletic Association (The Ball Fields) per county code.
Bothe the Ball Fields and Primrose school have hired attorneys to try to disrupt the Special Exception process, one of which has filed false statements in their letter to tye County. Our attorney is on it.
We will be looking for local support. If you have a hour or so on September 15 at 10 am, we would love to hear from you.
We have been upfront as to all our interactions with the neighbors and had verbal support form one up until the had their attorney file a motion to extend the notice period.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. You can see some of the project by searching LinkedIn under businesses at Chesapeake Shooting Center.
Thanks again for all the support and we look forward to being a great neighbor.
    Respectfully,
    Joe Stern

I'll vouch for Joe as a stand up guy who I served with as a NRP Reserve Officer. He is also a member AAF&G and shoots with us regularly.

I put September 15th on my calendar and will be there if humanly possible.

It appears that there are objections to this because it is between a school and a field where children play sports?

But why does this even need an exemption at all? I'm not that familiar with zoning issues, but an exemption hearing implies it needs approval to do something against regs, but I don't see what that is. It's more than 100ft away.
