  • Good Afternoon, Indoor shooting Ranges are approved in a C-3 commercially zoned but need a special exception hearing. We meet all of the criteria and have preliminary approval from the zoning commission. This can be a lengthy process but by having community support, we grow our chances of approval. Tale a look at the links in this thread and see the letter of support. WE could use more of theses lettering they can be emailed to the Planning Department.
    Thanks for your support

    Joe,
I'd be happy to write a letter of support. I was unable to locate any such letters at the links you had provided. Do you have a preferred example we could use?

Also, not to speak for Mr. Stern, but I have some experience getting exemptions from the county, although not for zoning issues, and they don't care about politics. So when writing your letters, liberal bashing, espousing the benefits of as many guns as possible, why school shootings are not the fault of gun dealers, etc, probably isn't the way to go. The county doesn't GAF about your politics.

Probably better to mention the community need for the place, rather than making it political. For example, using trigger words like "safety" and "training" and "responsible firearms ownership" etc is good. Many other ranges in the area are private. The only other range nearby "On Target" is always crowded and can't meet the demands of the community. Strong military presence in the Odenton/Gambrills area (Ft. Meade) means a greater need than your average area. Etc, etc, etc.

Just my .02, I hope I'm not speaking out of turn.

Saw this today and thought that it was quite a bit hypocritical to raffle off alcohol while opposing a firearm range. Irresponsible alcohol use is quite dangerous.

    Not His Happy Place
I've been in that house but it was 40+ years ago. Retired police officer if I remember correctly.

Would welcome another range in the area.

The state of Maryland is not business friendly, ask me how i know. They will put up road blocks and drop in land mines, too much government if you ask me.
The business of this proposed shooting range wants to do things right and they are libel for everything that happens there. It is in their best interest to be a good neighbor.

More than likely so dopey rule or consideration is why a no.

Every gun owner in Gambrills should just start shooting in their backyard,,, You know, since the community does not want indoor ranges ?
