Ii just spoke to my brother who lives in QA county. He says several of the other ES sheriffs have made similar statements recently. Anyone else heard anything?

Nothing from Carroll County. Though before the election of Sheriff DeWees 5 years ago, this is is second term, Carroll Commissioners, sheriff and state's attorney implemented a Joint Resolution that they would not comply or enforce the infringing Maryland gun laws of 2013 thereby making Carroll a Sanctuary 2A county. But I don't know where that stands today.

MSP has jurisdiction of all of Maryland, a Sherriff only has jurisdiction of his county.

There's nothing legally stopping MSP from going into Wicomico county or other counties and enforcing laws. It's similar to how ICE operates in sanctuary cities.

Local police will not enforce or comply with federal immigration laws and harbor illegals but there is nothing stopping ICE from going into those jurisdictions and enforcing federal immigration law.

Remember the MSP Superintendent answers to the governor, and the Governor is the highest elected executive of the state. After Hogan, there will be a Democrat that much I can guarantee you.

More of us than there are of them, and it’ll be up to which ever trooper dares to be today’s Lt. Col Francis Smith.

Highly doubt that would ever make a difference. You don't see these Sheriff's stopping MSP from conducting ERPOs.

Technically MSP could put the Sheriff's deputies under arrest if those Deputies were to obstruct justice and prevent MSP from enforcing these state gun-control laws.

Footnote: I offered all the sheriffs our “We Will Not Comply” permanent stickers for their office coffee mugs and all happily accepted them.

    Who’d a thunk it!

I'm sure none of these sheriffs are familiar with the MSP..............

And if’n it come to that, God forbid, there’s a heluva lot of regular Americans who would gladly stand side by side with those deputies, while some can take place with the brown shirts.

“But Mr. Blade, you speak treason...”

No, I speak “Constitution”, and “shall not be infringed” means just that. It sure as hell don’t mean “only those arms with politically correct appearances”.

The common denominator of the "your doing it wrong" crowd is that nobody has any useful suggestions.

It took balls for people to come down, put on a shirt that says "we will not comply", then stand in a committee room and give the enemy their names. That is a lot different than what we have done in the past. It reached the ears of our friendly legislators and a few (more to come tomorrow, supposedly) Sheriffs came to stand in solidarity.

    Amen!

It is my view that people with a common cause (2A) can boost each other up with a public stance that "says we got your back".

Wicomico Sheriff Mike Lewis and the other sheriffs gathered at the House Building spent the whole day in defense of the 2nd Amendment, yet the sea of WWNC shirts (to me) was the spark that encouraged Sheriff Lewis and his colleagues to step up with the most unusual public declaration I have every seen in my years of Gun Bill Days in Annapolis.

We witnessed elected law enforcement public officials announcing, with cameras rolling, that they WOULD NOT ENFORCE MARYLAND'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL INFRINGEMENT SCHEMES.

Yesterday was an historic day in Maryland!
They are elected officials. We HAVE to stand behind them in order for them to take this stance. Folks should take the time to reach out via e-mail or letter to thank them. It took a lot of balls, and no doubt some political capital to do what they did.

I met them, shook their hands and thanked them for their testimony and support.
Nice to see them backing us and I wish there were more.
I will email them as well.

So I was EXTREMELY disappointed in Sheriff Lewis today. After coming in on Monday, thumping his chest about how "we will not comply", and getting everyone riled up, today he comes in, and when asked, stated that he WILL enforce this bill. The ONLY reason he didn't want to enforce it before was because there was talk of confiscation of previously-legal weapons, and he didn't want to send his men in to harm's way. Not because the law is unjust, not Constitutional, won't solve any problems, or anything like that....simply because he didn't want his men to get hurt.

He just went WAY down the Patriot list in my opinion. :sad20:

Wow really? Wonder what changed, and how much they offered to donate for his re-election.

Well that SUCKS. One thing I noticed from Monday is that they didn’t say they wouldn’t comply during their testimony, they said it in the overflow room.

Thought about this on the walk back to the stadium lot (the walk helps burn off stress ...)

Th Sheriff is "law enforcement," no matter what his personal position or politics are. However, the ex post factor seizures clearly won't fly.

I don’t think he backtracked. He clarified that unjust takings were his focus. Sheriff Lewis is the last of the good guys in this state IMHO.
