Not sure if any Interest in green beans.
Hanover foods outlet store has green beans by the plastic shopping bag for $5. It's all you can put in the bag.
The wife and I put up about 2 gallons from one bag.

The beans currently are from NC and sometime in July they will be local beans.

A couple days ago we canned 7 pint jars of Pickle & Pepper Relish. The cukes were courtesy of @eruby (thank you!!). The recipe is the Sweet Pickle Relish recipe from the Ball Blue Book, with the addition of jalapeño and hot red peppers, and only half the amount of onion called for. The recipe with my variations is a definite keeper.

Peach jelly. A few will be gifts but with only 2 of us, this is probably a couple years worth

Have 2 gallons of salsa simmering on stove getting ready. I will appreciate it around holidays but not right now. Lol.

I never realized until today that Giant sells Kirby cucumbers which are preferred for pickling such as pickle chips, because they have a denser core with fewer seeds. I’ve been shlepping down to H Mart where they sell them loose, whereas Giant’s are wrapped in a tray.

We grew lunch box cucumbers this year. We have been swimming in them. All summer we have had a jar of refrigerator pickles as well as she has canned hamburger dills, bread and butter pickles and some pickle relish.

I need a crap load of jars and I’m having a hard time finding them. Canning season must be in full swing, lol.

Anybody seen the brown/amber colored canning jars?

    She found jars at Weis.

It looks like Amazon has a good selection, including amber.

I checked Amazon but only found off brands (not Ball or Kerr) and the prices were very high compared to Walmart and Southern States.
I found a lot of Ball jars listed. I searched specifically for them. They do seem a little proud of their jars.

Even if they are real (I have my doubts), the Amazon prices are 2-3 times higher than Walmart.

I bought the last two cases of the Ball half gallon jars at Mount Airy Walmart, I’ll need a few more cases. Hopefully they get a re-stock soon.

So I did a test to use up jalapeño and bell peppers.

Pints are 1# jalapeño and 1# bell peppers relish
1/2 pints are all deseeded jalapeños relish and 1#

Both have vinegar, sugar, garlic, mustard seed and pickling salt. Plus half and onion and cooked 30 minutes before water bathed

Hoping the sweet hot relish is like the red stuff they put on subs. 1/2 pints are for cooking or for real men that can handle more heat than me

Anone have a pear canning recipe?
My Aunt used to can them in a light sauce but she's passed and nobody knows the recipe. I can find some online but if someone on MDS has any recipes I'd appreciate it.

They appear to be a Bartlett pear or similar.

    TIA.
