Viton. 70 or 90 durometer. I like 70 for the ones I have to remove to install a can because they come off without a seal spoon. The 90s last longer but are a real PITA to get on and off.

Sorry, turning my geek switch off now.
That may be what I have. They came with thread protectors. I know silicone has a high heat resistance though, so I assumed.

The only time you have to worry about the heat is if you run and gun, are shooting FA or are using a can. If you use a suppressor, you shouldn't use O rings.

I use Viton O rings because I use them in my PCP air rifles and they have never failed when using with a muzzle protector or short brake.

Viton will handle plenty of heat. Some of the hydraulic systems we use them in get pretty toasty. If your barrel is over 300 degrees, it's BAD news.

Thanks for the suggestions y'all. Looks like what I got will work. 5 bucks for 100 of them. Anyone need some?
Can you post a link for what you have? I just take the thread protector off when I shoot right now.

Now don't get any weird ideas with these. They are way too small lol

I don’t use any form of glue or thread locker on my barrel threads for frequently removable devices. I worry that in a rush or if I’m not careful they will make it easier to cross thread or damage the barrel threads. I like that clean, smooth feeling when twisting them on.
