    I suggest a humidity indicator card taped to the inside of the lid. You get an instant read every time you open the can. You can then judge how effective your desiccant is, and adjust accordingly. The amount to use depends on how often you open the can, your house humidity, temp, how much moisture is already in the contents, and how good your seal is. In equipment I serviced, we used about a pound for 4 cuft. , so a can would use about an ounce for long term storage. YMMV. Cards are 50 cents. Blue dessicant is good if you have a transparent window, otherwise use plain and an indicator card.

    One seller at the Nation's gun show in Chantilly yesterday was selling pretty nice looking 50 cal ammo cans "5 for $45" or $10 otherwise.
