      AR type 308

I was just talking to one of the guys at work that gets paid to burn up lots of government ammo in an SR25. I told him about this thread and he laughed. He tells me the average gun shoots around an inch, sometimes worse, sometimes maybe a shade better using match ammo. That's about all anyone...

No HQL Colt Police Positive/ VEPR 12 $1000

I'm glad it sold and hopefully it found a good home. Thankfully that temptation that I really shouldn't have even considered buying has been removed from my life. :)

      AR type 308

Pretty much. Internet threads like this are pointless since the validity of which is the equivalent of asking a bunch of fat old married men how long they could last with a Playboy model. All that will ensue with a question like this is a bunch of chest beating with little substantive...

      The M14. Not so great.

I didn't see anyone break out their roll of aluminum foil wrapped Magnums yet. What I witnessed was a debate and disagreement on the various strengths and weaknesses of the M14. Among the opinion there is some substantive information that could be of use to someone looking to travel down...

      The M14. Not so great.

Back from vacation and I can finally respond to this mess. Other than an AR there aren't too many rifles you can dress in different stocks like you can an M14. Not doing your homework on your build and deciding on something as basic as the stock you will be using is your fault, not the...

      M1A1(M14) folding stock

I've never played with the newer Springfield Inc stocks. I have heard the new production stocks tend to be flexy and not the greatest, but again I have no personal experience with them. That paint job sure looks good though. Nice work!

      5.11 Tactical Sales Job

Not only that, but consider Fed and local governments are flat ass broke these days. Then there is dealing with the horrible arduous government procurement process. That alone is enough to make the most sane person want to rip their hair out.

      M1A1(M14) folding stock

Reese Surplus which is now out of business made a run of M14 folding stocks. They were sort of patterned after the Beretta BM 59 stocks. These stocks come up for sale now and then on Gunbroker. You could also join up on the M14 forum and post a want to buy ad. I bet someone has one they will...

      The M14. Not so great.

I see why your name is aquaman, your job is to carry the water. Got anymore one liners to contribute? I mean that is all you have contributed so far.

      The M14. Not so great.

Oh and by the way, who spends all that money on a LRB M25 receiver for a precision rifle build and then sticks a freaking Criterion barrel on it? Criterion makes a darn good rack grade barrel, but when you are sinking that much money into a precision gun, why cheap out on the barrel? You...

      The M14. Not so great.

Thanks for that non-substantive pearl of wisdom.

      The M14. Not so great.

Good grief, some of you guys really should have done more homework on the M14 before dismissing the rifle or worse yet sinking money into a rifle you don't understand. Not enough stock options for the M14? How about NOS GI wood, new Boyds wood, heavy match walnut, laminate, GI fiberglass...

      5.11 Tactical Sales Job

Which is one of the reasons I was never so happy to get out of the sales rep business; promises of unrealistic commissions that amounted to snowballs in August, and companies always trying to manipulate the commission plan trying to chisel their reps out of money. Then there was always the joy...

      5.11 Tactical Sales Job

But is there a base salary or is it commission only? If there is a base salary, how much? How about a car or is mileage reimbursed? It would just make life easier if companies would be upfront with prospective applicants.

      5.11 Tactical Sales Job

I hate the way private sector jobs usually refuse to list a salary range. All I ask for is a range so that I'm not wasting my time or theirs applying for a job where our financial compensation requirements are completely incompatible.

      Belgian A5 not cycling

Check the friction rings on the magazine tube. I will bet money someone has installed them improperly or some parts are missing. There are diagrams online that show the proper orientation of the rings. Is this a 2 3/4 chambered Light 12 or is it a 3" Mag 12? The A5 needs to have the...

The gun I have a love/hate relationship with

A5 works just as well as it always did. Some of the aluminum, plastic, and spray paint shotgun fans will be along shortly to tell you how the gun is a blast from the past. They will say the operating system is ancient and outdated because it won't self regulate and shoot a 3 inch magnum backed...

      The M14. Not so great.

The M110 is no magic pill and has had its own set of problems. http://kitup.military.com/2011/08/special-forces-worry-about-m110-durability.html http://www.m4carbine.net/archive/index.php/t-137240.html

      The M14. Not so great.

Yeah somehow these guys pictured below seem to be fans as well. Maybe their rifles work since they know better than to stuff a wad of mud into the chamber. My rack grade M14 with a Super Sniper 1-6 scope will shoot 5 shots inside 2 inches all day with decent ammo, and that SS...

      Browning A5 Lightweight

I suppose "better" depends on one's definition of the term and the job at hand.
