Found a rare original Turkish M1890 bayonet and a few small parts I needed.

Also snagged a really nice Swiss M1900/11 Carbine with matching bayonet along with a Lienhard BB conversion kit.

I’ll probably go back tomorrow morning for a little bit.

Did anyone see any Springfield Trapdoor parts for sale?

Last row, left side as you enter was a seller with many parts for old military and various antique firearms. He had a couple drawers that said Springfield, but no idea if any were for a trap door although I wouldn't have been surprised

Due to some changes this year, they don’t have the group of dealers in the entrance/display area like they have in the past.

However, South Carroll Sporting Goods is there instead of the main show hall. Make sure you stop by there before going into the main showroom.

I said Hi. They spotted my MDS badge on my hat.

    A lot to see

Missed this last year, great to see it back. Aisle F- really nice Swiss rifles at very fair prices. Picked up a K11, tested it out today. 1922
Manufacture date, worked great. MMBImporters - nicest people, always great rifles.

Had cash in hand to buy a $1200 Springfield m1a and then thought about how little I knew and that I needed to research more.

Went to the show today. Great time, lots of good people. Beautiful arms and accessories!
BUT, I was looking for a .32 cal flintlock rifle, full wood stock, not an original, not a fancy one, a target and hunting one.
    I found ONE 32 flintlock.
It was beautiful, reproduction but early, Very nice curly maple, with detailed inlays, and carvings all the way down the length of the barrel and in the barrel, good rifling, and it was a Bedford County PA make. I lived in Bedford county for years and thought that would make it great.
But it was outside my price range by a good bit. Just too nice and too much money, for me.

Looks like Im going to order one from Kibler. He offers a 32 Cal. Southern Mountain kit.

Enjoyed the heck out of my time there. Ended up taking just over 7,600 steps walking, talking and looking. Bought a great gun sleeve for $7.00! Wish I had bought 3.

I have been thinking about getting a trapdoor springfield as a shooter.
While I saw quite a few at the show today, I also recognize that I do not know what characteristics I need to pay attention to.
    Any recommendations for research resources?

I spent the early afternoon prowling the show while wearing my MDS badge. Saw a couple friends from AAF&G, but didn't see anyone else with an MDS badge. The one rifle of interest for me was a Danish Rolling Block from 1884 in 43 Spanish. The bore was almost perfect, but I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on it....so I left the show empty-handed.

There is info if you Google it but bring a bore light. I actually bring the appropriate snake cause so many of guns at shows have just dust. Bore condition on many of them are great and the chambers are good. There are those that are crap. At MACA go ahead and ask the seller to tell you about the gun and condition that conversation will lead you to tell what kind of a person the seller is and that often helps me decide. There used to be a guy who wrote the trapdoor book that goes to the show. I did not look for him but his still is fair priced and he is honest as all heck.

Went to the show with bigmancrisler. Was mainly looking for a mosin sling. Instead, I came out with a k31 sling. Sling came with a rifle which is nice.

I saw some friends and introduced myself to some MACA members, oh and this Scott followed me home. 10 Gauge and pretty much stunning.

I'll let you know, was a bit of a puzzle to open the action but we did once we learned the trick. Bore was good. I was able to negotiate a much lower $. Helped to have my wife with me at this show, She is my good luck charm to talk sellers down pretty good. I hope everyone that goes knows that a lot of these prices have room to negotiate. In the number of years I have gone, I have never paid the tag price on a gun at this show. Worse thing that can happen is they say no.

Should probably move this to the rimfire section but since we are here.

They are nicknamed "Miserable Loader" because they often have feeding issues. So if ifs cycling well you have a gem on your hands. If you went back today I hope you went shopping for a tang sight. Unlike mine, that one had the screws for it.

Saw a lot of single-shot boys rifles but none of them appealed to me. My "one that got away" story from this show was a heavy-barreled Stevens single-shot falling-block (Model 44) with a replacement stock. Said I would be back and when I was, it was gone.

Ever since, I joke with the seller "I'll come back for it, which means it will be gone by the time I do--either way you have a sale".

This year, I actually did come back for one and it was still there, so I got it. The seller said someone was coming back for it, so I waited 15 minutes, still no other buyer, so I bought it. Reluctant to say what it was in case it was another MDS member had wanted it.

I was looking at a Jungle Carbine but was reluctant to buy it when I first saw it as it was the very first thing that caught my eye and had to check to see if there was anything that I actually came there for, when I went back it was gone.

If anyone sees the tang site for my Steven’s pump and it’s less than $100 get it for me and I’ll reimburse if you so can do that for me.

I cycled metal 22LR snap caps and it cycled fine. It pushes the previous round out when it pushes the new one in so the last round does not eject. Very interesting design
