Call me crazy but I see a definite link here

    Y’all are onto something

    Hot

    Thermal. Preparedness. And “old ladies”

    Only missing the WD-40.

    Astroglide.

To quote one of my former instructors, "They don't swell, they don't tell, and they're grateful as hell"

Seems that some women hit menopause and they have zero sex drive. Some hit menopause and they have insatiable sex drive. It is this latter group that one must find. Of those in this category, supplemental lubricant has not been required, just saying.

Ed, you bring up a good point about focusing the objective. How close can some of these go? We had a handheld flir at the office that would focus to inches. Was REALLY handly for electrical test work, designing heat sinks, etc. I wouldn't expect that close from a rifle scope but what is the minimum they get to?

About 24" for the AGM Rattler TS35 640 here.

I set the objective focus to minimum and moved back and forth to where it just started to go out of focus.

This pic was my wife's Bic lighter after burning 5 seconds and sitting it down:

Thank you! That's totally acceptable for using it for electronic test purposes.

Went out and found my Test Rabbits. Not in my yard tonight, but just next door. The solid line at the bottom of the pic is the fence rail.

Closer rabbit is about 20 yards, the other about 25. Device is focused on the farther rabbit:

Yes, I think you're seeing the homogeneous temperature nature of suspended water. The fog/mist has it's own (lack of) heat signature you're unable to see beyond, sort of the same effect as glass, but with varying density/success.
You're correct. I worked on PAS-13()s back in the day. The scopes had reduced distance performance when looking at a constant temperature like rain, dust storms, snow. One of my tests was to look at something outside a hundred yards off. There was no problems on most days. However, in bad conditions things changed. I had to advise the soldiers about all that.

    About 50-80 yards

Couldn’t see them at all, pitch black field with the naked eye

I am still trying to figure everything out, there’s a lot going on and a lot to learn

    I think it’s pretty cool
