FINALLY got a decent group out of the CVA hawken Pawn Shop rifle.
I had some Wheeler Engineering grit compound from another project for a friend. I used it on the CVA to get it to stop cutting patches. It seemed to work. I also upped it to a .495 ball instead of a .490 ball and used spit patches. Even with the bigger ball, the patches are not tearing now. Got this 3 shot group then made a sight adjustment and worked on the offhand.
My son made a simple base to mount a Williams peep sight to the back. MUCH easier to sight through now. The base just uses the tang screw so no mods to the gun itself. Easily removable. I had the williams sight already so aiming is very quick now and noticeably more precise.

The Traditions Pioneer is shooting well with Great plains Bullets. I have not tried the tighter round balls with the Traditions yet.
