Norton has two excellent suggestions. To that, I will add Tersiguels (French).

Guys, being still somewhat new to the area....
My anniversary is coming up and i would love to take the wife somewhere very nice for dinner. She doesn't do seafood or exquisite cuisine. Everything else is pretty much fair game. I've google mapped a few places but w/o reviews or them being a well known chain i have nothing to really go on.
Any suggestions?
there's also couple nice restaurant in national harbor.. been to graces' mandarine its quite good.
I ate there a couple weeks ago, was very good food and the staff was better than average
If you don't mind spending some bucks, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Baltimore absolutely oozes class, and I have never eaten a better steak. Service is second to none and it will definitely be a great place to go.My vote is for...Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
This seems to almost always be misspelled and mispronounced.Ruth Chris'
+1 for fogo...I've eaten there several times, always great. Some of the best cuts of meat constantly streaming out of the kitchen on rotisseries ready to be sliced onto your place. You'll walk away from there feeling like a stuffed pigFriend of mine ate at Fogo de Chao in DC and raved about it.

I see from a quick look at their site that they opened another in Baltimore.
He said they wait on you constantly and you get to try anything and everything.
i must be the only anti-ruth's chris...i've never understood the attraction...it always just seemed like overpriced decent meat...though i also don't order a steak at any restaurant...i can't see that attraction either...if i want a good steak i'm gonna go to my local amish market and buy a nice piece of meat and then cook it to my liking! I don't want some random chef deciding what medium-rare is for me. *end mini-rant*
