Is working in MD and paying insane taxes, housing costs, and anti-2A laws really worth it to you? Do you have kids? Want them learning DEI and possibly anti American ideologies all while you serve America in your uniform?

Lots more to think over besides what firearms you can bring here.
Since he is military and getting stationed here, Maryland won't see any of his money in taxes other than sales tax. As for Housing, that depends on where he picks and what his BAH/BAQ is.

I always suggest to military folks that they discuss this with the base jag. They should know what you can and cannot do.

Probably not worth it - except that in my line of work, sometimes it just becomes hard to avoid one's career circling back through the DC area. End of the day, all you can do is serve the mission honorably. Luckily, we've lived pretty much everywhere in the country, and most people continue to be basically decent human beings, even if they're not great at understanding each other. The cost of living... yeah, that could be rough.

Why would they? They only handle Federal and UCMJ stuff.
According to their web site they also help with civil stuff. Also they can and do recommend how to contact to get proper answers to these types of questions

They tend to be great lawyers, but really only formally trained in military law and commonly encountered local civil stuff. They move between states every few years like any other soldiers, so really quirky state laws like MD's gun laws would potentially be new ground for them, unless they're gun owners and had to research it themselves.

Doc, if you are looking for a great source for all current and future gun laws, you have come to the right place. Maryland, is in the top 5 states leading the nation in the creation of gun laws. We, sort of a gun law incubator. We have plenty of Mom’s demanding action and the’ll throw anything and everything at the wall and see what sticks. We are continually striving to surpass California, NY, NJ to be the best in the nation. Our motto is: “If you can dream of a gun restriction, we can legislate it”.

    Welcome to the party.

    1) Without re-reading this thread, has anyone recommended the OP check out Maryland Shall Issue? They are one of the best sources for information about and clarification of Maryland gun laws. Of course we strongly recommend everyone join Maryland Shall Issue as well.

Doc, if you are looking for a great source for all current and future gun laws, you have come to the right place...

This forum is one of the best sources for information about our gun laws. Of course, being a public forum, it's necessary to compare postings from different people and to use some judgment in evaluating their posts, but with a bit of discriminating research, the information here may include the best available.

    3) Lastly, Handgunlaw.us is an excellent source for state-specific laws focusing on handgun carry. One handy feature is the many links to actual primary sources, such as actual law codes and state agencies.
