I really need to check the forum more often, just saw this thread. Life's been getting in the way for a while with my new house. Tired of pushing this receiver around while trying to find stuff in my general gun parts box. Put it off waaay too long.

I'd like to hop in on the next build party if I can get a really nice parts kit.

Thanks! I've been doing some reading on how others have dealt with this (unique?) situation. Would love to hear some more ideas

I'd need photos to know exactly how bad it is, etc. If the gas port and handguard retainer flats are in the "correct" location when the barrel is put in clocked correctly, an oversize pin may indeed be all that's needed.

Or if it's completely unusable as-is, I might could be interested in taking it off your hands depending how bad it all is.

I bought an un-barreled polish kit off AoA, the barrel is Bulgarian from K-var that I picked up during one of their sales last fall. It just sucks cus it'll cost 190 to replace now lol

Can a mis-drilled barrel pin be filled with TG weld to control the heat and then the repaired section turned to size with a lathe?

should be able to be.

if the gas port is drilled "off", though, you'll need to fill that in and re-drill as well.....

The gas port was predrilled on his barrel. It's the first that I have ever seen like that.

Kvar has not had any AKM barrels for some time was it a milled variant or something

Yeah it was for an slr95 milled. The trunnion was akm 23 mm. The rsb profile is milled and the gas block is ak74. The part number is Ak-601

That explains the rifle not cycling... If you are ever up this way give me a shout and we can drill that gas port out for you. It only takes 5 minutes.
