6mm ARC hopefully I can get out and break the barrel in this weekend

Broke the barrel in today. Did OK for factory loads(see best group attached). I chronographed every round and its going roughly 2650fps out of a 20" gas gun. Actually faster than I thought. On a hot summer day should squeak around 2680 easy the 108gr match hornady ammo. Recoil is non-existent. Going to be interesting to develop a load with either 107smk or 105 bergers.

I had 2 issues with a mag feeding today out of 40 rounds. I only had one mag with me, so not sure if its that or the h1 spring I had in it. Time will tell.

Edit, the pic turned right when posted. The string showed vertical bot horizontal.

I forgot, shooting off sand bags. Who makes a good mlok bipod mount?

    Newest build: 16" 300 HAM'R

    - Aero Lower with Aero LPK, Buffer Kit, and Magpul MOE stock
    - Reptilia CQG Grip
    - Aero OD Upper with KAK dust cover
    - Wilson Combat Match Grade 16.2" 300 HAM'R Ranger Profile Barrel 1-15 Twist, Stainless
    - Aero ATLAS S-One 12" Handguard
    - CMMG Mid-Length Stainless Gas Tube
    - Aero Gas Block

Currently has a no-name thread protector I had, will be getting a Dead Air muzzle device, not sure whether I want a flash hider or a muzzle brake.

It needs an optic as well, but I haven't decided what I want for it yet, maybe a 1-6 Vortex Strike Eagle. Will probably add some more OD and FDE parts in the future to break up the lower a bit more

Just got the handguard that I ordered back in August to finish this. Wanted a 16" Lightweight AR308 to pull double duty between 3gun heavy and playing around suppressed out to a few hundred yards. Wanted to keep a full mass BCG/buffer and avoid fragile lightweight parts to keep it durable and reliable just in case 2020 is just a preview for 2021. It's kinda tough to get under 8# without going to Low mass bolt/buffer, but managed to get under 7.5# before optics, so I'm happy.

Aero M5 upper, lower, BCG, LPK
Faxon 16" mid gas (technically AR10 carbine) big gunner profile barrel
AR10 carbine length gas tube / SLR clamp on adjustable block
    Odinworks O2 lite 15.5" rail
Griffin 2 port brake(adapter for my Cans)
    Raptor Charging handle
    Larue MBT 2s trigger
    Battle Arms ambi/short throw selector
Armaspec extended mag release/AR10 mag catch
    2A AR10/A5 buffer tube, H3 buffer/AR10 spring
    Fortis K1 end plate/castle nut
Magpul Moe grip and slim line stock
Topped with a Vortex PST2 1-6 in a Larue CAN mount.

So far dead nuts reliable with a variety of ammo with and without the can. Seems to group 2MOA or less, not as good as my precision M5, but great by AR10/AR308 standards. Recoil is pretty light and followup shots are fast despite the full weight internals, should do well in 3 gun.

So now the lower is a registered SBR as a rimfire caliber? Does that mean he can’t switch the upper out to a full length upper or change the caliber to a center fire?
IIRC when you put a >16" upper on a SBR lower, the lower will temporarily lose NFA status, as long as it can not be really converted back to the SBR. So if you put a standard upper on it, make sure the short upper is going to be left at home.

I wonder how that would work too. Normally I just send a letter with "please amend my F1 with these additional configurations", covering most uppers I might use with it. Figure in MD, might be able to do the same thing as long as all additional configs listed are over 29" or rimfire. Pretty sure you could still add a MD legal 16" 5.56 HBAR or another caliber upper on it and it would be at least temporarily just a "rifle" until it was returned to an NFA config.

Recently helped a friend put this together (Friend purchased the lower on his own).

Budget minded SPR inspired build. Barrel is an 18 inch rifle gas Criterion HBAR.

Scope is a cheapy Primary Arms SLx 4-14x44 FFP - surprisingly nice for what it is.

Bare rifle was just a hair over $1000 all in before taxes.

Edit: before someone comments - no hand drills/ drill bits were used in the assembly of this rifle

Nice one. What kind of bipod is that? Looks stout.

As a general rule; an SBR is and SBR until it isn't. You can reconfigure an SBR into a non-SBR at any time. You can even return it to its SBR status at any time. If you want to permanently change the status of an SBR to a standard firearm, I believe the ATF want's to be notified(this also includes permanent changes to barrel length and or caliber even if it remains an SBR).

I have a 603 style upper. Anyone know what these markings are?

    One is a C inside a square

Other looks like a VP in a triangle
