I enjoy the guy with a certain pistol model in his screen name saying someone else is too fanatical about a brand of firearms.

Seems like there are more constructive things in life to care about though like 9mm or .45 and should pedal bikes be allowed on the roadway.

I go with the Glock 36. Add a Pearce +1 magazine extension on one of the mags and it's still comfortable in the NRA Tactical Holster while driving, riding the motorcycle or working in the garden.

I voted XDs in 45. I love mine, but it's actually the 3.3" version. The only thing I don't like, common to many carry guns, is my pinky hangs off the grip with the standard 5 round mag. So, I fixed it! I carry the gun with a 7 round extended mag. While recoil is a bit snappy, it's far from unmanageable and I actually shoot very well with it out to 25 yds! Surprisingly accurate, I believe, for a compact gun. FYI, until that gun, I always shot 45s out of 1911s with the exception of a Hungarian FEG I had for a few years (and actually the FEG is a fairly decent gun....but a bit heavy for as compact as it is).

I carry a SA XDm .45 3.5" IWB and I like it it can be a little heavy at times but I don't mind, I bought it like 2 months before the XDs came out or I would have bought that. I do plan on buying the XDs and carrying that in the future. sxs as for the pinkey hanging off the end I just replaced the floor plates with a pearce grips they work great and I don't have small hands.

    Considerations...

    • Getting a pistol that fits your needs and shoots reliably.
    • Looking at several and choosing wisely
    • One pistol must provide the best all around traits
    • Carrying that pistol is going to be a great responsibility
    • Keeping within ones budget must also be considered

I was at Greentop Sporting Goods in VA yesterday open carrying my Glock 30SF. If it was summer and I was concealing, it would be my G36.

When I lived in AZ, and could do so legally, I carried a Colt Lightweight Commander. I back packed with it too.
