I've been hoping something at the federal level would knock this over, but hasn't happened yet and we're getting down to the wire. For those who made inexpensive polymer frames or used additive manufacturing methods to create a frame I would think
a) Adding the metal plate in compliance w/ the...
Yeah, but as it stands, it almost doesn't matter, because once your finished it, it becomes a PMF, which still needs to be serialized by an FFL according to Maryland. I guess if that 80% isn't a firearm, at least it could be shipped to your door, so there's that.
For those with Polymer / Printed lowers/receivers...
I haven't pursued this yet, but Browne Works, Inc. out of Pasadena apparently will affix and engrave a plate to your frame w/ ATF compliant serialization.

So, ATF ruling went live 24 August, but I think it already has court cases going on about it.
FWIW, I wrote Gov. Hogan's office about this bill and in a letter back he shared that they very much expect Maryland court cases involving SB387 as well.
If a Supreme Court rules the ATF doesn't have...
Not a lawyer, but as written I understand that once a receiver or frame has reached the stage that it can "readily be machined, converted, or completed into a functional frame/receiver", after 1 March they will require it to be serialized within 30 days of reaching that point and handled as if...
Thanks Mike. I thought there might be, but didn't see an easy way to search a subsection of the forum. I guess I should have just searched the forum for sb387
For those who weren't already aware, Maryland passed a bill this year to regulate what they are calling "Untraceable Firearms", including Personally Made Firearms. (https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Legislation/Details/sb0387)
This does not specifically discuss 80% frames/receivers, but...
Apparently I've been living in a cave. I only learned about this bill recently. I'm contacting some FFLs in my area to see about engraving services. If anybody has had any success getting this done on polymer frames, let me know.
Had a great time with it today. Went through a 50 round box and every round fed fine and went bang.
Only shot at 15 yards. Clearly need to work on my technique, but I think everything hit paper. Felt very good.

Hello,
I've actually been a forum member for a few years now, but not very active. I've only really started getting into shooting in the last 3 or 4 years... it's not something I did growing up.
I started by buying a Remington 700 Varmint in .308. I'm hoping to eventually get into...
Wow. Sorry to hear that.
How about Baltimore's Best Pawn? I almost bought from them. Would have been the same price in the end, but although their list price was cheaper, shipping from Davidson's was double and they charged a $10 state fee.
