    Well, depends really what you like. I prefer mine old skool and mil spec but everybody likes this free float weirdness now with pic rails all over the place so they can make their rifle look like a chandelier
    ...or because free-floated barrels are generally more accurate than non free-floated barrels.

    Free floated barrels are more accurate and have consistency when firing.

    The rails all over the place where you see crap hung all over them are from people that think more is better when it isn't. Just because I have a free floated barrel and 2 attachments on the handguard doesn't mean I'm tacti-cool. It means that I know that the purpose of the rifle is and what I wanted it to be able to do.

    But then again, I'm also a fan of the M16A2 with the 20" barrel and the A2 carry handle upper. I also know that an M16A2 clone has its place.
