Liked it a lot more than I expected. Less recoil than I expected from 30-06 and I figured out the sights real quick. I'm in the fan club now.

A fine rifle. If I could only have one, it would be an M-1.Liked it a lot more than I expected. Less recoil than I expected from 30-06 and I figured out the sights real quick. I'm in the fan club now.
There is something special about the Garand: there is no other rifle quite like it. When you step up to the line with an M1 Garand, people will turn their heads and take notice. Strong men will respect you. Beautiful women will fall at your feet. The enemies of freedom will flee in dismay.
Yeah, but you only get one pretty plastic box per year. Where did you think I got mine? Now I can only buy 4 more for the next 6 weeks. LOL. Also kinda related to my FedEx frustration thread.

Well, Springfield Armory was closed in 1968, so...it's a satisfying rifle to shoot, too bad Springfield doesn't still make them.
Things change once upon a time it was one in a lifetime in a cardboard box and it took a long long time with proven competition experience. Then you could buy more. Then there were cases with every purchase. Then you could buy less. Now fewer and only one case. Eventually there will be none available like M1 Carbines, .22 Target Rifles, 1903 Springfield's, Mann Accuracy Device's, etc.Yeah, but you only get one pretty plastic box per year.
