LOL... "eat'n park" always drives my wife nuts anytime she sees one. She has a diatribe prepared about the order of words being wrong as you need to park before you eat. She doesn't object to smiley cookies though.
Can't blame her...and why would you, you won't win!

I thought the same thing, that it should be Park'n Eat, but since that first date was with a Miss PA contestant, I wasn't concerned with debating the finer points of Pittsburghese grammar!

Oh, I get to "win" (or at least draw). Allows fair game for me to mock the MD pronunciation of "reese's" at the least. The wife and I are both smartasses, so everything's fair game.

Good call on not questioning it with Miss PA!

Grew up around Johnstown and spent a good part of my early 20s in the 'burgh. No hint of a phonetic "h" in the yinz I grew up with. Might have been there after a few beers though and just didn't notice.
    Sup,

I am from that area, it was always "Younz"

    Burgh'ers are yinzers

And the correct pronunciation of color is "kel-lar"

I've always though it better to be a smartass than a dumbass!

You're darn right about Miss PA. She and I carried on for several years. She was in the health care field. She was very merciful.

And a cow gives melk, and women wear high hills.

Out here, if you walk into a sammich shop and order a jumbo sammich, the guy behind the counter will say that you have to tell him what kind of sammich you want before you tell him how big you want it. Back in the 'burgh if you order a jumbo sammich the guy back there will ask you how big do you want it.

Then tell her it’s not Eat and Park. It’s the Eating Park. They just spelled Eating as Eat’n. “Yin’s eat’n dinner now?”

I could play that off, but that ship sailed. Haven't had to explain "jeet jet" which obviously translates to "did you eat yet?".

Where abouts? I've always found the yinz/younz line to be just east of Johnstown proper. Windber was definitely "younz".
The line has always been a bit blurry for me since my primary exposure to Pittsburghese was at a Penn State campus that attracted students primarily from Beaver County, and also Johnstown and Sharon, two roommates, and the surrounding counties.

My landlady's daughter, a Monaca native, was a yinz, not yunz, person.

Glad you checked in. Figured it was only a matter of time.

Let's hit Squirrel Hill for some good kosher. We'll bring eruby along!
That would be so much fun!!! Gotta hit the Strip District, too.
