I’m in with #5, were these wooden bowling pins or a steel plate rack?

My club requires wrap around eye protection when we are shooting steel at reduced ranges.

I have seen them ricochet before but never directly back towards the shooting positions.
When I got hit in my right bicep at MSAR a decade ago, I was shooting on lane eight, and the round came from the guy shooting immediately to my left at lane seven. I guess that round did a nearly complete 180. The same goes for my pop at the junkyard, his own shot came back and hit him in the forehead.

It seems crazy but it’s not the first time I’ve heard of this with wooden pins.

I think stuff like this is a good reminder to help ensured we are prepared for an incident too. Where is the closest blowout kit on the range, tourniquet, packing gauze, chest seal, etc? Are you and others familiar with how to use this equipment.

2nd this was really close to your eyes do you have ANSI rated eye protection, either prescription or off the shelf. Non impact rated eyeware can crack, shatter, and potentially cause more damage than the intial impact. I’m really glad this wasn’t more serious.

Videos on how to use common equipment in stop the bleed kits below.

CAT Tourniquet (can be applied to all limbs)

    Combat Gauze

Chest Seal (in the event the chest cavity is punctured the victim will not be able to breathe)

I’m not in, but I’m happy to hear you’re okay. A good reminder to keep eye pro on, even when you step away from the line.
