      Who to believe?

I am just getting started in reloading. I am at the stage where I have a bunch of Nosler 60gr Ballistic Tip Varmint bullets, trimmed and primed 223 cases, and a pound of Hodgdon Benchmark powder. So I go to the manuals and find the following load data: Hodgdon - start 23, max 24.6 Lee -...

      Ruger SR40c barrel peening

This must be my week for peening issues. I found the peening shown below on the barrel of my SR40c. Is this normal? The only thing it seems to line up with is the extractor. But I can't figure out how the extractor could possibly hit the barrel.

Should I fix it, or live with it

I have a Iver Johnson Cadet with a peened hammer. I love this gun. It is one of the few 8 shot revolvers I have ever seen. And it had only one previous owner, my father. I know it is not worth much, but it means a lot to me. So here is my dilemma. The gun was stolen from my fathers...

Good deal and service on an 887

Picked up a Remington 887 last weekend from United Gun Shop. I found the one I wanted on Galleryofguns.com and United quoted the best price. I picked it up a few days later and the guys at United made it easy and painless. I would have been in and out in 15 minutes, but they have a lot of...

      Bipod measurments

I was able to shoot an AR with a bipod and I liked it. So I decided to get one. I usually just toss my range bag on the bench and use it as a rest, but that is a hassle when going in and out of the bag for stuff. Bing-Fu seems to indicate that Harris is the go-to brand, but I didn't realize...

Can I mail myself a 30 round mag?

I travel a lot to other States. While browsing a gun store in Georgia I saw some good deals on 30 round AR mags. I wanted to buy some but... How would I get them home? Is it okay to put an empty mag in carry-on luggage? If I mail them to myself, am I violating the "receive" wording in...

      Value opinions on safe cleanout

The guys at the water cooler said this was the place to ask about values of some old rifles. I am trying to sale some dust collectors from the back of the safe to get something I will shoot. I have looked on gun web sites, but I only seem to be able to find what they are selling for, not what...

      My Uncle's guns

I inherited a box with some guns in it and I need some help figuring out what I have. I have searched the web till I am blurry eyed so I am hoping someone with a lot of experience will say: "Oh, that is a such-and-such." I suspect these my end up at one of those "buyback" programs. First is...

Should I run power into the safe?

I got a safe last Black Friday. It did not come with an internal power connection. So I am wondering it adding power is worth while. I know I need lights and humidity control, but both of those are available with battery power. So I am looking for experiences with battery versus electrical...

      I need a Mossberg detective

I recently inherited my late mother's Mossberg 151M (a) .22. It is in pretty good shape, but has a few missing pieces. I have tried searching the interweb, but I am coming up a bit short. I was hoping someone here would know of a secret site or IP that could help me find the parts I need...

Santa decided I needed a rifle, now what?

I'll admit that I am a hard person to gift for. That could be why Santa did what he did. My wife and I were walking through a gun show when we passed a display by DOS Arms. I said "Look. AR's are still for sale in Maryland." She said "Do you want one?" I said "I am more of a pistol shooter...

      Hello from Calvert

Hello from Calvert County. My wife and I just bought new handguns to beat the new October 1st laws. This looked like a great place to share thoughts and information with kindred spirits. Before this purchase I had several rifles and shotguns and a 1951 Ruger Mark I as my sole pistol. I would...
